Originally from Guangzhou, China, Dantong Feng started learning piano at the age of 4 and came to the U.S. to study when she was 14 years old. Currently, Dantong Feng is pursuing a Master of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music, majoring in classical piano performance. Previously, she studied at the Colburn Music Academy and Eastman School of Music as a classical piano performance major. She has studied with notable professors including Jeffrey Cohen, Marina Lomazov, Ory Shihor, Myong-joo Lee, and Xiaobei Zhu.

As a soloist, Dantong has been performing all around Asia, Europe, and North America. She has been invited to perform at prestigious halls such as Zipper Hall and Thayer Hall at the Colburn School, Paul Hall at the Juilliard School, and Kodak and Kilbourn Hall at Eastman School of Music. She has won prizes in competitions such as the Hong Kong International Piano Invitation Competition, the Asia International Youth Competition, Zhong Sin International Music Competition, Macau-Asia Piano Open Competition, Hong Kong-Asia Piano Open Competition, Deutschland und China - Gemeinsam in Bewegung, and “Pearl River•Kayserburg” National Youth Piano Competition. She has also performed the Mozart Concerto K414 in A major with orchestra at Music Fest Perugia in Italy.

Not only had she enjoyed conducting recitals and participating in non-profit events as a soloist, Dantong is also passionate about chamber music. She is recruited as a piano accompanist at the Manhattan School of Music precollege division, accompanying precollege students of different instruments. She was one of the members of the “Bellissimo Trio” and became a semi-finalist at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Other recent and major chamber performances include “Composer Premiere Concert with Juilliard violist” at Paul Hall, duo concerts with a violinist from Binghamton Philharmonic, a collaborative performance with the Colburn Dance Academy’s ballet students at Zipper Hall, and Homeless Animal Benefit recital for Oboe at Church of the Reformation in Rochester.

As a teacher, Dantong has been teaching both in the U.S. and China for years, giving instructions to students of different ages and levels. As a patient and understanding teacher, her ability to evoke students’ interest and curiosity in piano playing and being able to find out the most effective and easiest way for students to overcome their own challenges has helped her students to gain success in piano performance and other aspects such as piano examinations and elite music programs.
